Dr. Ness is a pediatric neurologist and the Project Director of CPODD. She did her undergraduate work at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. After completing her M.D.-Ph.D. at the University of Iowa in 1995, she started her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of Alabama at UAB and stayed on to complete her Pediatric Neuorology fellowship at UAB. A farm girl from Iowa, she had every intention of moving back to the Midwest following her training, but found herself overtaken by kudzu and happily tied to UAB and Children's Hospital. She joined the faculty of Pediatric Neurology at UAB in 2001. She and her husband (an anesthesiologist) have three children.
Services offered: With her primary responsibility in Pediatric Neurology consultation, Dr. Ness asks detailed questions to establish a complete medical history of each patient. She will ask questions about early medical history, developmental milestones, family history, as well as all the demyelinating events that led to the patient's referral to CPOD.
