PET scans are sometimes coordinated after MEG scans for the convenience of patients if that test is also being ordered. In such cases, the PET scan will usually be performed either at 1pm or 2pm after the MEG scan is complete.

Patients cannot eat lunch, smoke, or consume caffeine between the MEG scan and PET scan when having those on the same day.

Also, an MEG Scan cannot be performed within 24 hours after a PET scan or an MRI.
