Distinguished Professor of Neurology Dr. Shin J. Oh is Distinguished Professor of Neurology and Pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He serves as Director of the Division of Neuromuscular Disease, Director of the Muscle/Nerve Histopathology Laboratory as well as Director of the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology and the Electromyography and Evoked Potentials Laboratory. He is a recipient of the 2006 Distinguished Research Award from the American Association of Neuromuscular Disease and Electrodiagnostic Medicine in 2006. During his 30-year tenure at UAB, he established and brought the Division of Neuromuscular Disease to national and international prominence, published numerous articles, chapters, and abstracts on electrodiagnosis and neuromuscular diseases, and trained more than 200 residents and more than 70 fellows, including many from Korea, Turkey, Japan, Poland, Colombia, and Brazil. He is the author of four textbooks: Clinical Electromyography: Nerve Conduction Studies (1982, 1993, and 2003); Electromyography: Neuromuscular Transmission Study (1988); Principles of Clinical Electromyography: Case Studies (1988); and Color Atlas of Nerve Biopsy Pathology (2001). His interests include myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton myasthenia syndrome, tarsal tunnel syndrome, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), vasculitic neuropathy, and nerve biopsy. |
