Movement Disorder Fellowships

The Department of Neurology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham offers a two-year Fellowship in Movement Disorders beginning July 1 of each year. UAB has a comprehensive movement disorders program, led by David G. Standaert, M.D., Ph.D. and we have positions and funding available for at least two new Fellows per year.

Two training tracks are available:

In the Clinical Training track, fellows focus on developing skills in clinical care, including patient evaluation, management, and treatment. There will be opportunities to develop expertise in botulinum toxin use and deep brain stimulation. There will also be opportunities to develop expertise in clinical research through formal training in research design and methodology as well as participation in ongoing trials.

In the Laboratory Research Training track, fellows will combine focused clinical training in movement disorders with basic and translational laboratory studies.
