Personal Info:

Dr. Bebin became an Associate Professor with the Department of Neurology on October 1, 2006, and has a secondary appointment with the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Child Neurology. She completed her post-graduate training at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Pediatrics and Neurology. Before joining UAB she also had an epilepsy fellowship at the University of Virginia. Dr. Bebin's interests focus on the treatment of epilepsy in children. Says Bebin, "Treating patients with chronic neurologic illness has been a tremendous motivation for me to pursue greater involvement in health policy and ways to improve health care for these patients."

In August of 2005, she was chosen as one of seven new Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellows for 2005-2006, as named by the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies. The fellows (outstanding midcareer health professionals) were chosen on a competitive basis from nominations submitted by academic institutions, non-profit health care organizations, and other community-based providers. They were to spend a year in Washington, D.C., working in a congressional office of the executive branch.
