Dr. Brockington serves as Director of the Neurology outpatient clinics at The Kirklin Clinic (the outpatient practice facility of the UAB School of Medicine) and also works with the UAB Athletics Department as one of their physicians. He is licensed to practice medicine in the states of Alabama and North Carolina and is Board Certified in Neurology.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine-Chapel Hill in 1992, he completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1993 and a neurology residency in 1996. Dr. Brockington went into private practice with the Cumberland Neurology Group in Oak Ridge, Tennessee from 1996-1997 followed by five years with Carraway Methodist Medical Center from 1997-2002. In 2002 the UAB Department of Neurology appointed him Assistant Professor of Neurology. Although Dr. Brockington left UAB for a brief period of time in 2007, the department welcomed his return to Neurology with a new appointment as Associate Professor in February of 2008.
He has earned a number of awards including the Argus Society Award for Best UAB Neurology Resident 1995-1996. While at Carraway, Dr. Brockington was honored with the Robert M. Bryan Award as Best Subspecialist Instructor two years in a row, 2001 and 2002, as voted by the internal medicine residents.
