Harrison Walker, M.D. was appointed Assistant Professor in the Division of Movement Disorders on July 1, 2008 after completing a fellowship as the Francis and Ingeborg Heide Schumann Fellow in Parkinson's Disease Research. A native of Starkville, Miss., Dr. Walker attended Birmingham-Southern College where he majored in music and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He subsequently attended UAB School of Medicine from 1997-2002 where he participated in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute / National Institutes of Health Research Scholars Program at the NIH. He completed his neurology residency at UAB from 2003-2006.

Dr. Walker received a K23 Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health / National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke in 2010 to investigate the therapeutic mechanism of deep brain stimulation.
