UAB Medicine celebrated 16 women who have recently earned their professorship, and 19 women who have been promoted to the rank of associate professor at a reception Nov. 6.
For the second year in a row, the School of Medicine’s American Medical Women's Association chapter hosted the Region 5 conference February 15-16.
The School of Medicine’s Office for Diversity and Inclusion hosted its third annual Diversity Fair Jan. 25, 2019 in the atrium of North Pavilion. Hundreds of guests attended and enjoyed wandering among the booths to sample cuisines while listening to the sound of international music.

UAB School of Medicine’s Office for Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) was selected to lead a deep-dive workshop at the AAMC Group on Diversity and Inclusion conference, entitled “Diversity and Inclusion Programming in Academic Medicine: An Interactive Development Model.”

Birmingham REACH for Better Health, an initiative of the UAB Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Center (MHRC), was developed in response to this burgeoning health crisis, a crisis driven in part by social and economic disparities.
The annual Student National Medical Association (SNMA) Conference was held this year in San Francisco from March 28 – April 1. The 2018 conference was entitled, “Embracing Our Diversity: Filling the Gaps and Building the Future,” and included five attendees from the UAB chapter of the SNMA at UAB School of Medicine.
The Common Thread was developed thanks to a grant from the UAB Health Services Foundation, P.C., which was awarded to UAB School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, and School of Health Professions in order to create practical, concrete mechanisms for dealing with pressing issues related to diversity and inclusion.
The School of Medicine Office for Diversity and Inclusion celebrated its second annual Diversity Fair with food, drinks and entertainment. The 2018 Diversity Fair welcomed approximately 700 guests from across UAB Medicine.
