Vasavada elected to Indian-American medical organization

Tarak Vasavada, M.D., professor and regional chair of Psychiatry at the School of Medicine’s Huntsville Regional Medical Campus, has been elected to the American Association of Physicians of vasaforwebIndian Origin’s executive committee.  

Vasavada will serve as the regional director for the Southeast Central region for AAPI, one of the largest ethnic medical organizations in the U.S. His term with the executive committee will run for two years overlooking chapters located in Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee. Vasavada is currently president of Alabama Psychiatrist Physician’s Association and director of Behavior Health Services at Huntsville Hospital.

AAPI’s mission is to facilitate and enable Indian-American physicians to excel in patient care, teaching and research and to pursue their aspirations in professional and community affairs. AAPI is made up of 150 local chapters, specialty societies and alumni organizations.
