The University of Alabama at Birmingham will hold the Blazer Bolt for Brain Cancer, a 5K run and a 1-mile run/walkblazer bolt Saturday, Oct. 25, to raise money for brain tumor research at UAB and Children’s of Alabama.

The 5K begins at 8 a.m., and the 1-mile fun run kicks off at 8:15 in front of the Trak Shak, 2839 18th St., Homewood, Ala.

“The event will raise public awareness of brain cancer, directly benefit patients and family members battling brain tumors by providing services and support, and benefit brain cancer research efforts at UAB and Children’s of Alabama,” said Rhodemarie Maron, D.O., associate professor in the Department of Neurology.

Registration is open now at www.active.com. Cost is $20. Packet pickup will be available at the Trak Shak during the day on Oct. 24 and from 6:30-7:30 a.m. on Oct. 25.
