First of all, congratulations! It is my distinct honor and privilege to welcome you to the UAB School of Medicine. I understand that the road to medical school can be an exhausting process, so let me be the first to remind you that yes, you’re in – you are coming to medical school. I am confident that you will find your time at our school to be a challenge, but one that is humbling and rewarding. Almost one year into my training, I can say that I am incredibly thankful I chose to pursue my M.D. at UAB.

This newsletter is sent to you on behalf of the Office of Admissions, Medical Student Services and the student body. It is our hope that this monthly publication will answer your questions regarding life in medical school, preparation for matriculation and the transition to Birmingham. If there are any topics you feel should be included, let us know, and we will do our best to incorporate them if they aren’t already on the schedule for Orientation.

Once again, congratulations on your admittance to medical school! Should you ever have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to email me. I also encourage you to take advantage of our “Recently Admitted” channel on Slack; details on joining Slack are included in this newsletter. I look forward to meeting you all in July.
