Training in medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorders available to physicians

Written by
In response to the urgent needs to aid thousands of Americans with opioid use disorders, the federal government is offering free buprenorphine trainings for physicians across the country to address the need for treatment providers.

The DATA 2000 waiver trainings, provided through the Providers Clinical Support System for Medicine Assisted Treatment, gives information to physicians on treating opioid use disorders.  Once their training is complete, qualified practitioners can then become certified to treat a maximum of 30 patients with buprenorphine in the first year and up to 275 patients in subsequent years.

DATA 2000 trainings are available both in person and online. To learn more about buprenorphine trainings, see a calendar of online course and webinar availability and other resources, visit www.pcssmat.org/calendar-of-events
