Dr. Bee joined the faculty in 2018 and currently serves as Medical Director and Assistant Professor. He sees patients at the UAB Callahan Eye Hospital in downtown Birmingham, in addition to our clinics in Gardendale and Pell City. Dr. Bee’s clinical practice focuses on the medical and surgical management of glaucoma in addition to routine and complex cataract surgery. Dr. Bee also has extensive experience in minimally-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), which can offer a quicker recovery and improved safety compared to traditional glaucoma surgery. Dr. Bee takes pride in getting to know his patients and tailoring the best possible treatment plan for each individual accordingly. To better serve our patients in the surrounding community, Dr. Bee performs surgery in Gardendale, Pell City and the Callahan Eye Hospital.

A native of Portland, Oregon, Dr. Bee completed his undergraduate studies at Oregon State University and obtained his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University. He completed an internship at Baptist Health Systems in Birmingham followed by residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he was elected Chief Resident by his peers. His glaucoma fellowship was completed at the UAB Callahan Eye Hospital. Dr. Bee has authored numerous journal articles and publications and has been invited to give lectures throughout the state.

Dr. Bee is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Glaucoma Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology.
