UAB and University Hospital Print E-mail

Palliative and supportive care at UAB and University Hospital is available on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.  Palliative care services include assistance with complex decision making and determination of goals of care, symptom management, provision of psychosocial and spiritual support, and discussion of treatment options and appropriate community settings of care, including hospice care.

Inpatient care is provided for patients that have been admitted to University Hospital.  Care can be delivered on a consultative basis, by working with your current physician.  If necessary, patients can be transferred to the UAB Palliative and Comfort Care Unit, a 12-bed inpatient unit dedicated to compassionate clinical care.
