Amanda Baker was born in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated with a bachelors degree in nursing from UAB in 1972 and a masters degree in nursing from UAB in 1999. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and has nursing experience in cardiovascular, cardiology, GI, as well as pain management. She joined the UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care in 2008.
