Vicki Herring has worked in the Center for Palliative and Supportive Care since May, 2000 and is the last remaining "original" employee of the Center still at UAB. Her background in administrative support and program administration began at BellSouth Services, followed by AmSouth Bank and McWane Science Center. She earned her certification as a Certified Administrative Professional from the International Association of Administrative Professionals in 2010.
Vicki has acted in the capacity of coordinator for the Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program since its inception at UAB in 2000. In conjunction with the current Program Director and Assistant Program Director, she successfully coordinated the fellowship program's first accreditation site visit in 2011. This site visit resulted in continued accreditation for five years, the maximum period of time allowed by ACGME. The program received a commendation and no citations related to the site visit.
Vicki provides direct administrative support to the Center's Director and eleven additional faculty members. She also acts as liaison with the Center's Community Advisory Board.
Vicki has three adult children and six grandchildren. She lives in McCalla with her dogs, Bruiser and Rocky, and enjoys family and church activities, reading, and crafts.
