    The UAB Department of Pediatrics provides a wide range of pediatric services together with the Children's Health System. Highly-skilled, board-certified physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals have access to extensive medical technology in a superb environment for learning and discovery. Continual research efforts are advancing the treatment of the entire spectrum of illnesses in infants, children, and adolescents.

    The faculty of the UAB Department of Pediatrics at Children's Hospital provides a diverse and extensive spectrum of medical expertise and health care services, from primary care to subspecialty services. Over the past five years the department has experienced significant growth in the number of full-time medical pediatric faculty. Currently there are over 100 full-time faculty in general pediatrics and subspecialty divisions.

    The faculty of the Department of Pediatrics records more than 160,000 outpatient visits, including approximately 50,000 patients seen through the pediatric emergency medicine division. More than 9,800 subspecialty patients and general pediatric inpatient admissions were managed by the pediatric faculty.

    The Department of Pediatrics has a major commitment to research and consistently ranks in the top 10 among all departments of pediatrics in the country in NIH funding. Through research, we are contributing to a better understanding of the causes of many life-threatening diseases as well as advancing many new forms of treatment.

  • UAB Multiple Sclerosis Center

    The UAB Multiple Sclerosis Center is housed in the Center for Neuroimmunology, UAB Department of Neurology. Directed by Khurram Bashir, MD, MPH, the UAB MS Center evaluates and treats acute and chronic MS and related diseases. The Center also continues to develop and expand its basic science research program, including cutting edge neuropathology, neuroimmunology, and neuroimaging research. Based at Kirklin Clinic, the UAB MS Center is located four blocks away from CHA and adjacent to UAB Hospital. Kirklin Clinic consolidates the majority of the adult outpatient medical facilities of the UAB Medical Center.
