Dr. Kristin Avis - A Body at Rest: Taking Sleep Science to the Bedroom

Tom Harris, MD, has received a Harry Shwachman Cystic Fibrosis Clinical Investigator Award for his project, “Myofibroblast differentiation in cystic fibrosis,” in the amount of $90,909.  The project period is April 1, 2012 - March 31, 2015.

Kristin Avis, PhD, CBSM, Associate Director of Pediatric Sleep Disorders Center, has been awarded a grant for $84,022, funded by Resmed Foundation, to study "The Effect of Positive Airway Pressure Therapy in Children with OSA: Does PAP Use Reduce Pedestrian Injury Risk?"

Kristin Avis, PhD, has received an HSF-General Endowment Fund Grant for her study "Actigraphy Program for Patient-Oriented Research on Sleep and Circadian Rhythm Disorders," in the amount of $180,600.

Dr. Terri Magruder, pediatric pulmonologist, has been selected to receive the 2011 Minority Health & Health Disparities Research Center (MHRC) Award for childhood obesity research, sponsored by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. The funding of $30,000 has been granted for her research proposal, "Effects of Exercise on Asthmatic Responses in Obese Pediatric Asthmatics: A Multi-Investigator Study." Congratulations!
