Since 1968, UAB and Children's of Alabama (CH) have had an affiliation agreement that established CH as the primary site for all pediatric educational programs and patient care activities within the UAB Medical Center. This alliance has allowed the Department of Pediatrics and CH to pursue a joint mission - to excel in patient care, research, and education through a lifetime commitment to improving the health of all children.
Current Pediatric Research
The Department of Pediatrics has a major commitment to research and consistently ranks in the top 10 among all departments of pediatrics in the country in NIH funding. Through research, we are contributing to a better understanding of the causes of many life-threatening diseases as well as advancing many new forms of treatment.
