Hematology encompasses many non-malignant diseases of the blood. The Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's of Alabama offers comprehensive programs in the following areas:
- Sickle Cell disease and disorders of hemoglobin
- Anemias
- Bleeding and clotting disorders including hemophilia
- Immune thrombocytopenic purpura
- Disorders of white blood cell function or number
- Bone marrow failure syndromes including Fanconi Anemia
- Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis
