Located on the 4th floor of the Spain Rehabilitation Center. Our Orthotic and Prosthetic Practitioners and Technicians have a combined 100-year-experience and have come from all over the country. All practitioners and technicians are certified with The American Board for Certification of Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics (ABC) and/or The Board of Certification/Accreditation, International (BOC). Our office is further recognized as an ABC Accredited Facility as well as a National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE).
Orthotics deals with the use of devices to support and improve the function of weakened joints or limbs. Our Board Certified Orthotists are available to assist our patients with their orthotic needs, whether they are getting a new brace, or have been wearing a brace for years. Our Orthotists fit a variety of prefabricated and customized devices. We customize orthotic appliances by measuring, designing, constructing, fitting, and adjusting them to ensure the most comfortable and functional fit.
Prosthetics deals with the production and application of artificial body parts. Our Prosthetists are American Board Certified and are trained in the fitting and fabrication of both upper and lower limb prostheses. UAB Prosthetics places emphasis on individualized care which utilizes state-of-the-art methods and materials that offer expanding options to our clients.
Pedorthics is the assessment, design, fabrication, and fit of custom or off-the-shelf foot orthoses (shoe inserts). Our Pedorthists are American Board Certified and they strive to reduce foot problems caused by disease, overuse, injury, or posture mal-alignment. Custom foot orthotic and pedorthic devices are designed to sustain and easily reposition the heels, medial and longitudinal arch, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones of the feet. This enables the foot structure to work in harmony with the rest of the body to make each step pain free. Our Pedorthists work toward long-term maintenance of healthy feet and prevention of injury to the foot.
