Participate in ResearchResearch is essential to improving health and quality of life, and many research studies need people to participate. Rehabilitation research aimed at discovering knowledge that has a positive impact on the health of people with disabilities.
UAB is currently recruiting participants with:
Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
- Virtual Walking for Reducing Spinal Cord Injury-Related Neuropathic Pain - Investigating a 3D-video simulation as a cost effective home-based treatment option for neuropathic pain after spinal cord injury.
- Spinal Cord Injury Neuropathic Pain: Identifying Biopsychosocial Predictors – This project is to ultimately address a major barrier to better treatment and prevention of spinal cord injury-related neuropathic pain: a lack of understanding as to how and why some develop this type of pain while others do not. To address this barrier, this study examines psychological, biological and cortical (brain) factors related to the development of neuropathic pain (or the absence of pain) in persons with spinal cord injury.
- Exercise & Diet Research Study for Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury - This project is to test how well either an 8-week exercise or a nutritionally balanced and healthful diet program affect blood glucose and insulin levels, blood lipids, bone and muscle health in individuals with SCI.
