The American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP) has elected James H. Meador-Woodruff, MD, Heman E. Drummond Professor and Chair of the UAB Department of Psychiatry to a three year term as a member of its Council starting in December 2014 . The ACNP was founded in 1961 and is the nation's premier professional society in brain, behavior, and psychopharmacology research. The ACNP promotes communication among a broad range of scientific disciplines of brain and behavior in order to increase our understanding of the causes of disorders of the nervous system. Dr. Meador-Woodruff was elected to membership in the ACNP in 1995 and was promoted to fellow in 2002. He served as the Editor in Chief of the ACNP journal Neuropsychopharmacology from 2007-2012.
Stephan Meadors, MD, has joined the department as an Assistant Professor following the completion of his residency in July. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of South Carolina, and his Medical Degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Meadors served as Chief Resident during the completion of his residency with UAB Psychiatry. He will provide clinical care and teach in UAB's hospital-based programs, and will rotate through the department's adult inpatient, emergency department, and consultation services.
