Dr. Meador-Woodruff named Editor-in-Chief of a new scientific journal, npj Schizophrenia

 james meador woodruff web Nature Publishing Group and the Schizophrenia International Research Society have partnered to publish a new scientific journal that focuses on schizophrenia, npj Schizophrenia. Last fall, Dr. Meador-Woodruff was selected as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief of this new journal. npj Schizophrenia is an international, peer-reviewed journal that will publish high-quality original papers and review articles relevant to all aspects of schizophrenia and psychosis, from molecular and basic research through environmental or social research, to translational and treatment-related topics. npj Schizophrenia publishes papers on the broad psychosis spectrum including affective psychosis, bipolar disorder, the at-risk mental state, psychotic symptoms, and overlap between psychotic and other disorders. This new journal was officially launched by Nature March 4, 2015, and can be accessed at: http://www.nature.com/npjschz/

Dr. Jacqueline Feldman Appointed Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry

 feldman ed 114x160  The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees appointed Jacqueline M. Feldman, M.D., Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology. Dr. Feldman earned her medical degree in 1983 from the University of Texas Medical School of Houston. From 1991 – 2013, she served as director of the Division of Public Psychiatry, which houses the Mental Health Center for this area of the city. Dr. Feldman made this program a showpiece for the delivery of care to one of the most vulnerable populations of mentally ill patients that we serve, and opened the clinic as a critical component of both our education research portfolios. She held multiple positions in the Department of Psychiatry, and ended her career as Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs, a role she filled with great distinction. She continues to be engaged with the Department of Psychiatry at UAB, including clinical coverage and ongoing teaching activities.
