The UAB Department of Psychiatry participated in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Out of the Darkness Walk for the 3rd year in a row at Heardmont Park on November 7th. This year’s walk raised over $120,000 and looks to be the 2nd largest walk in the nation, behind Chicago, for number of participants. Over 1,300 people participated in the walk.
UAB Psychiatry’s walking team, “Psychiatry in Motion”, also had a great day with the 2nd largest registered team in the walk and raised $7,781 in donations. “Psychiatry in Motion” had over 70 faculty, staff, residents, and family members participating. UAB Psychiatry wants to thank all those that participated in the walk and wants to encourage everyone in the Alabama community to join us next year if you were unable to attend this year. Below are some pictures from the wonderful event.
