Shelton Appointed Vice Chair for Research and to the Charles Byron Ireland Chair of Psychiatric Research

Shelton-RichardRichard Shelton, M.D., to the Charles Byron Ireland Chair of Psychiatric Research during its meeting February 3, 2012. Dr. Shelton joined the Department of Psychiatry as a Professor and Vice Chair for Research on February 1, 2012. He comes to UAB from Vanderbilt University where he served as Vice Chair for Research and Chief of the Mood Disorders Program. Dr. Shelton is internationally respected for his many contributions to advance the understanding of depression and is at the forefront of developing novel and innovative treatment approaches for mood disorders, especially depression.
