UAB Psychiatry Administrator Named Commissioner of Mental Health
UAB Hospital administrator named Commissioner of Mental Health – Zelia Baugh has been named by Governor-elect Robert Bentley to be Commissioner of Mental Health. Baugh is currently the administrator of psychiatry at UAB’s Center for Psychiatric Medicine.

UAB Psychiatry is proud to announce that seven faculty members were named to the annual ‘Best Doctors’ list. Drs. Lee Ascherman, Daniel Dahl, Jacqueline M. Feldman, F. Cleveland Kinney, Samuel Rubin, Terri Steele, and Ray Thweatt were included on the recently released list. Overall 323 doctors from UAB made the list, which marks a 10% increase from last year. Successful AFSP Out of the Darkness Walk!
The UAB Department of Psychiatry participated in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Out of the Darkness Walk for the 3rd year in a row at Heardmont Park on November 7th. This year’s walk raised over $120,000 and looks to be the 2nd largest walk in the nation, behind Chicago, for number of participants. Over 1,300 people participated in the walk.
