Brief Bio
Dr. John Lazenby joined the UAB Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine as Assistant Professor of Medicine after 12 years in private practice in Arkansas and Georgia. Dr. Lazenby completed his Internal Medicine residency amd Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship training at UAB and holds board certifications in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Lazenby is also a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr. Lazenby has experience as Chair of the Department of Medicine at community hospitals, as well as experience serving as a Chief Medical Information Officer, along with experience with the organization and initiation of computerized physician order entry.

In addition to the practice of medicine, Dr. Lazenby has been heavily involved in business and administrative roles. After completing a Master of Business Administration degree from Auburn University, Dr. Lazenby served as Chief Executive Officer of his former medical practice. Currently, Dr. Lazenby practices pulmonary and critical care medicine at UAB Hospital where he also serves as an Assistant Chief Medical Officer with a focus on inpatient quality and patient safety.
