Mission

The mission of the Program for Experimental Therapeutics is to delineate molecular mechanisms for pulmonary fibrosis and acute lung injury and identify potential therapeutic targets for developing novel treatments of these diseases.

Objectives

As UAB seeks to improve the care of its patients by expanding its research focus into targeted therapies and capitalizing on the unprecedented opportunities presented by recent scientific advances, the faculties in the Program for Experimental Therapeutics will be there to translate this research into more effective, less toxic, personalized treatment and prevention strategies.

About Our Practice

This program, headed by Dr. Gang Liu, is comprised of a number of investigators in the division who primarily focus on transcriptional, posttranslational, epigenetic, mechanical, and metabolic aspects of the disease mechanisms. The program is currently supported by more than 10 NIH grants as well as funding from other government agencies and foundations.
