Top Ten Faculty 2011

The radiology residency program recognizes the
"Top Ten Teachers" based upon resident evaluations of each faculty member.
This is a semi-annual award to show appreciation to the faculty for their
hard work and dedication to teaching. 
For July - December 2011 the following faculty received this honor:

Evaluation Comments:

  • Advocate for patients in every respect. Pushes residents for excellence.
  • Great viewbox teaching for general Nucs cases and took the time to do quick didactic lectures to supplement our knowledge.
  • Best radiologist at the VA.

  • Great teacher, I am learning a lot from him. Gives good presentations at conferences. Happy to work with him. Very friendly with fellows and residents.
  • One of our best attendings. His viewbox teaching and conferences are outstanding.
  •  I enjoy working with him, it’s fun and lots of learning. No stress when he is your attending for the day.

  • One of the best teachers at UAB;  great for MSK MRI, radiographs, and procedures. Teaching sessions are always educational and very much appreciated by residents.

  • Great teacher and radiologist. Dr. Langston repeatedly challenged me to broaden my fund of knowledge and to provide better, more concise reports.

  • Dr. Chapman is a great asset to the department. Always friendly and willing to teach, but allows independence and has high expectations for residents.
  • Dr. Chapman is great to work with. He takes time to go over any case you have a question about and is always approachable no matter how busy the workload is for the day.
  • Awesome to work with. Great radiologist and teacher.

  • Dr. Langston is one of the most well-rounded Radiologists that UAB/VA has. His case conferences are always interesting and rich with information. He gives residents lots of autonomy when performing procedures and excels at clinical work as well.
  • Dr. Langston is excellent at teaching procedures. His efforts to review all MSK MRI's read by a resident are much appreciated. He provided multiple teaching sessions during the rotation.

  • A pleasure to be around. Always look forward to work when Dr. Larrison is on. His teaching is some of the best we get as residents.
  • Dr. Larrison is a great teacher and always takes time throughout the workday to stop and go over studies that are interesting, go over a power point, or just spend time teaching during check-outs. I had a great month and look forward to my next MSK rotation.

  • I worked with Dr. Narducci once on this rotation, and he spent the better part of it teaching. His powerpoint presentation on hip arthroplasty was very helpful, and he brought up great lessons that correlated with the cases I had seen that day. Much appreciated.

  • Dr. Sullivan is a great attending. He is usually the first person to arrive in the morning and the last person to leave. He is very dedicated to his section and to resident education. Thank you for a great month!
  • Always enjoy working with Dr. Sullivan. He takes time throughout the day to go over interesting cases and is one of the most approachable attendings we have. Looking forward to my next neuro rotation.
  • Always a pleasure to work with. Does a great job balancing teaching with clinical work, and is always willing to help out or answer questions.

  • I have learned a lot of neuroradiology from Surjith, teaching is his passion in addition to his very friendly personality which always put you at ease asking him. He is always available even in the middle of a very busy day. He always make sure that our questions are answered and does not get bored repeating things more and more.
  • I believe Dr. Vattoth is a great asset to the Neuroradiology program, he is very competent and comfortable of what he does, he holds great teaching conferences. He is always there to teach and help. He has got a very pleasant personality which always put you at ease.
