Top Ten Faculty 2010

The radiology residency program recognizes the
"Top Ten Teachers" based upon resident evaluations of each faculty member.
This is a semi-annual award to show appreciation to the faculty for their
hard work and dedication to teaching. 
For July - December, 2010 the following faculty received this honor:

chapman

Philip R. Chapman, M.D. (left)
Neuroradiology

First-time recipient of Top Ten Award

 

Evaluation Comments:

  • I always feel comfortable asking Dr. Chapman any question that comes up. Great at taking time to teach and answer questions no matter how busy the work list.
  • He does a great job of explaining "outside the box" types of questions and I feel like I learned a lot working with him.
 

 

Dubovsky_2010

Nuclear Radiology

Four-time recipient of Top Ten Award

 

Evaluation Comments:

  • Dr. Dubovsky has a wealth of knowledge in nuclear medicine.
  • It is a very valuable experience when working with Dr. Dubovsky. She provides excellent case-based teaching, provides excellent experience for cardiac nucs, and is always helpful and enthusiastic to work with.

Evaluation Comments:

  • Dr. Langston consistently goes out of his way to make sure that I learn the essentials of MSK MRI. He is an excellent teacher.
  • Excellent teacher and radiologist. Teaching sessions are concise, well organized and very helpful.

Evaluation Comments:

  • Dr. Morgan is a huge asset to our program in both teaching and research. She has a way of explaining complicated things in a language everyone can understand.
  • Very kind, helpful and informative. She allows good independence to do exams but was available for questions. Very knowledgeable.

Evaluation Comments:

  • Dr. Pitt is a great teacher with a broad depth of knowledge. He approaches cases in the manner of Doyle's Holmes; with no preconceptions. He then draws amazing (but in retrospect, always apparent to the astute observer) inferences from seemingly straightforward radiographic images. To him, radiographic interpretation is an art, one at which he excels.
  • A truly dedicated MSK attending!

  • I thoroughly enjoy working with Dr. Royal.  He always takes time to teach residents and provides encouragement. Thank you for a great month.
  • Excellent radiologist and physician. I appreciate the time taken out of his busy schedule for teaching.

Evaluation Comments:

  • Dr. Sullivan sits with us in the Body Reading room on call and always provides assistance and immediate feedback. The immediate feedback and on-call teaching really enhances our learning.
  • Excellent teacher. He takes time to teach residents on the service and his invested time into resident education really shows.
  • Dr. Sullivan has a great teaching style. I could always count on learning a lot in his case conferences and lectures and even when he was not my scheduled attending, he made sure I knew he was available if I had any questions at all. I look forward to being back to neuro soon.

  • I'm very excited to have Dr. Vattoth join the faculty. He truly is an asset to our department. He goes out of his way to teach residents each day.
  • A great resource for the residents. Always helpful and willing to teach.
  • Dr. Vattoth is a pleasure to work with. Very approachable and takes a keen interest in resident learning while maintaining a brisk workflow.

  • I always felt like he pushed me and at the same time, never focused on what I didn't know, but on teaching. I really appreciated his patience.
  • He is always knowledgeable and approachable, but most importantly, he always takes the time to teach and go over cases regardless of the workload. Also, he actively seeks out resident participation in procedures.
  • Extremely valuable to the residency. His time and efforts are very much appreciated.

  • Wonderful clinician that incorporates all of medicine into the nuclear medicine specialty.
  • Excellent teacher. A great physician to learn from as he takes time with each patient to understand their entire clinical picture. Appreciate the time he spent teaching and going over cases.

  • Dr. Dubovskyis one of our best nuclear medicine teachers. Her board reviews are perfectly tailored to the actual exam.
  • I appreciate the time Dr. Dubovsky takes to give extra teaching sessions to residents.

  • I always enjoy working with Dr. Smith. He is a great teacher and he thoroughly enjoys teaching residents. I wish that he could give a case conference every single day because I always learn something new from him and he makes Body Imaging fun.
  • Takes time to come and show residents what they missed for learning opportunities.

  • Dr. Torgerson provides excellent view box teaching throughout the day by asking relevant and important questions on nearly every case. He demonstrates how to search for additional information in pediatric radiology texts as well as through the use of online resources.
  • I always enjoy working with Dr. Torgerson. His wealth of knowledge is impressive. He loves teaching residents! Thanks for a great month.
  • Great fund of knowledge to share with residents. He is very nice to residents and makes an effort for teaching and it is much appreciated.

  • Great teacher, takes time out of the day to hang interesting cases, invites inquiry and has great pathological knowledge to add to every discussion.
  • Always eager to teach residents procedures and includes residents in the patient's overall care, which I really appreciated.
  • Excellent mammographer and also gives great lectures. A great addition to the department.

  • Always take time out to teach and show cases. Very organized in approach to chest cases.
  • I really enjoyed his Friday afternoon cardiac teaching sessions.
  • By far, one of the greatest assets to residents in terms of teaching. His time invested in teaching is well-evident, especially from the dedicated small conferences he holds several times a month for the 2 residents on service.
