The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Section of Interventional Radiology (IR) is proud to announce the Third Annual UAB IR Symposium. The Symposium's main goal is to provide outreach to radiology residents and medical students with an interest in interventional radiology as a career. While focusing on IR fundamentals, the Symposium is a great opportunity for medical students and radiology residents to stay on top of current IR practices.
The Symposium will feature several lectures from UAB's interventional radiology faculty on a variety of topics pertinent to interventional radiology. An important focus of the Symposium will be addressing the hot topic of IR's transition from a fellowship to a residency program.
Simulator sessions will be available to provide attendees with hands-on experience with many of the devices and tools interventional radiologists use on a daily basis. Kyphoplasty, venous access, peripheral angioplasty and stenting, embolization, and IVC filters are a few of the modules that will be present for attendees to learn some of the fundamentals of IR.
The Symposium is scheduled for Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 7:30am to 2:00pm. Registration will begin at 7:30am. The Symposium will be held on the UAB Medical Center Campus in the West Pavilion Conference Center. The Symposium is free to medical students and residents. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided. Please register below by April 28, 2017 to reserve your spot.
