Call Responsibilities for Radiologists

1. CALL SATURDAY/SUNDAY GENERAL AM/PM

Provide in-house coverage of Chest/Bone/ED/GI/GU on Saturdays and Sundays.

AM: This person will read all conventional radiographs posted on the PACS weekend work list between 5 p.m. the preceding Friday and 2 a.m. for Saturday AM call, and between 1 p.m. the preceding Saturday and 3 a.m. for Sunday AM call. First call resident checkout should be performed at or before 7:30 a.m. and again no earlier than noon. This person will provide backup for morning GI/GU studies.

PM: This person will read all conventional radiographs posted on the PACS weekend work list between 2 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday for Saturday PM call, and between 3 a.m. and noon on Sunday for Sunday PM call. In addition to periodically "catching up" the resident ED worklist, they will also have a final checkout with the first call resident before they leave. Since there is no set time that the PM person has to arrive or leave, this will have to be coordinated with the first call resident. However, the final checkout should occur no earlier than 3 p.m. and no later than 5 p.m., as this is the time the evening attending will be arriving and will take over first call backup responsibilities.

2. CALL CT/US CHECKOUT

In-house Body CT/US morning and afternoon reviews. Coverage begins at 7:30 a.m with expectation of radiologist arriving by 9:00 a.m. Afternoon review typically begins at 3:00 p.m. If the workload permits, the radiologist may leave the hospital between the morning and afternoon readouts and remain available by pager. If the CT/US Checkout person differs from the radiologist taking CT/US/General Call for the day, the Checkout radiologist's responsibility for CT/US coverage ends at 5 p.m.

3. CALL CT/US/GENERAL

At-home Body CT/US/General Call. Starting time is 5 p.m. weekdays and on weekends and holidays, 5 p.m. or whenever the in house General or Body CT US checkout people are finished, whichever is earlier. Make sure the 1st and 2nd call residents in the house know how to reach you.
