In-house Call Responsibilities for Radiologists
SATURDAY/SUNDAY AM/PM GENERAL CHECKOUT:
The weekend AM and PM general checkout shifts run from 7:30 am to 12 pm and from 12 pm to 5 pm, respectively. Radiologists covering these shifts work with the first call resident to read and/or over read ED radiographs, as well as supervise fluoroscopic studies. They are also responsible for interpreting the following radiographic exams on the weekend worklist in Prism:
Saturday AM: Weekend worklist exams between 5 pm Friday and 3 am Saturday (also includes any leftover studies prior to 5 pm Friday)
Saturday PM: Weekend worklist exams between 3 am Saturday and 3 pm Saturday
Sunday AM: Weekend worklist exams between 3 pm Saturday and 5 am Sunday
Sunday PM: Weekend worklist exams between 5 am Sunday and 3 pm Sunday
Weekend worklist times for holidays will be posted in advance of each holiday.
SATURDAY/SUNDAY & HOLIDAY BODY IMAGING CHECKOUT:
The body imaging checkout shift runs from 7:30 am to 5 pm. The radiologist will read chest and abdomen/pelvis CTs, non-neuro CT angiograms, and all sonograms done between these hours on weekends and holidays, working with the second call resident. Occasionally, it may be necessary to interpret exams performed slightly outside this time window to allow the overnight radiologist to finish their work and the evening radiologist to begin their shift without undue burden.
