John V. Thomas, M.D.

|Dr. Thomas is a board certified radiologist. He completed his radiology residency at Albany Medical Center, NY. Dr. Thomas did his MRI fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Pennsylvania and his Abdominal Imaging fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC. After completing his fellowship training he stayed on as faculty in the Abdominal Imaging Section at Duke University Medical Center. In 2009 Dr. Thomas joined the faculty in the Body Imaging Section at University of Alabama in Birmingham. He has been the Chief of Body MRI and the Abdominal Imaging Fellowship Director at UAB since 2010.
Dr. Thomas’s area of clinical practice and research focus is in Abdominal Imaging, particularly abdominal MRI involving oncology, hepato-biliary, inflammatory bowel and prostate imaging. He has authored several book chapters, research articles and abstracts on various aspects of abdominal imaging. He is a faculty in radiology national meetings including Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR) and American Roentgenray Ray Society (ARRS). He is on the GI core committee of the American Board of Radiology (ABR) and is a reviewer of articles for several national and international journals.
