Dr. Surjith Vattoth is an American Board of Radiology certified radiologist with ABR subspecialty certificate in Neuroradiology. He has done Neuroradiology, VIR and Nuclear Medicine fellowships at UAB. Dr. Vattoth completed his medical school and radiology residency in Calicut Medical College and Neuroradiology fellowship in Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute, a premier Neurological Diseases and Epilepsy Center in India in 2004. After obtaining his radiology board certifications (MD, DMRD and DNB) from India, he procured his UK radiology board certification (FRCR) and certification of completion of specialist training (CCST) from London in 2005. Dr. Vattoth worked in Kuwait Ministry of Health Hospital with a radiology residency program where he taught neuroradiology and then moved to United States in 2007. After US radiology fellowships, he joined UAB neuroradiology faculty in October 2010. Dr. Vattoth has authored many peer reviewed publications, posters, presentations and book chapters, many of which involved mentoring of a resident or fellow trainee. He serves as the associate editor for Journal of Pediatric Neuroradiology and advisory board member and reviewer for Archives of Medicine and Health Sciences and is a peer reviewer of American Journal of Neuroradiology. He has received many awards including RSNA research award, multiple top-ten faculty awards, multiple certificate of merit and cum-laude awards for educational presentations in RSNA and ASNR annual conferences and has been appointed to UAB Comprehensive Neuroscience Center as a Scientist. His passion is teaching and enjoys sharing his many years of neuroradiology experience from the east to the west with the medical students, residents and fellows. He is a member of the UAB radiology residency clinical competency committee. Dr. Vattoth was the recipient of RSNA honored educator award in 2013 and has been appointed as a member of the highly coveted RSNA education committee.
