FAQs

faqHow do I get admitted to Beacon Addiction Treatment Center?
Admission is based on an evaluation called an assessment. The intake process takes about two and one-half hours to complete.

  • We offer a free no obligation Orientation session most Mondays at 11:30 a.m. Call our office to schedule the next available Orientation.
  • Assessments are generally offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

How can I make a referral to Beacon?
If you believe your patient or client needs substance abuse treatment, simply call us at 205.917.3733, ext. 106 and provide us their name and some background information and we can make an appointment for an assessment.

Do you have an inpatient program?
We are only licensed by the State of Alabama to offer outpatient services.

Do you treat teenagers?
Yes, we have an adolescent program for teens from the age of 13 to 18; two levels of care are offered.

How much does your program cost?
There is a $40.00 intake fee. Services are provided for one monthly out-of-pocket fee that is based upon a client’s income and ability to pay (sliding scale). If a client has no income, we can make arrangements to provide treatment—lack of income should not prevent a willing client from receiving services.

I only need an assessment, not treatment; can you help me?
We can provide an assessment and one-page summary letter to your referring organization. Cost is $160. Additional documentation can be handled for an additional fee

If I have already had an assessment, do I have to have another one?
We use an assessment suggested by the Alabama Department of Mental Health-Substance Abuse Division. If your assessment was not done using this form, we will very likely need to supplement the information on your assessment with additional questions. Also, if your assessment is more than three months old, we require a new assessment.

How long is your program?
Length of stay depends on which level of care you attend.  We offer three levels of treatment.

  • Our Brief Outpatient program meets once a week for 10 weeks.
  • Our Intensive Outpatient program meets three times a week and is open-ended—the length of stay depends on how much support you need before completing the program. Most clients stay anywhere from eight weeks to 28 weeks.
  • Our Day Treatment program meets five days per week and most clients are in this program for four-six weeks before returning to the Intensive Outpatient program.

When do the groups meet?
We have a flexible group schedule which offers morning and evening groups.  The frequency of groups depends on the level of treatment.

Do you take Medicaid clients?
Yes, BATC accepts clients who have Medicaid.

Can I have a drug test done at your facility?
We only offer drug tests for clients who are admitted for treatment.

Will you take my insurance?
At this time we do not bill insurance other than Medicaid.

Do you offer a weekend program?
Though we offer flexible hours on weekday mornings and evenings, we do not offer weekend groups at this time.

How long does it take to get admitted?
You can usually get an assessment appointment within seven days and begin receiving services immediately following your assessment.

Do you provide detoxification (detox)?
No, but we can help you get to detox at an area hospital or treatment program.  We can admit you for substance abuse treatment following your detox.
