Biography

Lauren Walter MD, FACEP, completed her undergraduate and medical school training at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and her Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Dr. Walter has previously been involved in both undergraduate and graduate medical education, including as Assistant Residency Program Director, and currently as a scholarly activity mentor and the Director of the Social Emergency Medicine and Population Health Fellowship.

Dr. Walter’s current scholarly projects focus on social emergency medicine and population health, to include specific interests in sex- and gender-based medicine, emergency department (ED)-based screening for infectious diseases, as well as ED-based initiatives to address the opioid epidemic.
