Obstructive Sleep Apnea

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery's Dr. Peter Waite specializes in surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea and is investigating anatomical changes in the upper airway. Maxillo-mandibular advancement is the most successful treatment of OSA and it seems to open the airway by pulling the tongue base forward while supporting the lateral pharyngeal walls. Such research analysis involves a multi disciplinary approach.
