Ph.D. student Ahmed Arabi Hassen was recently awarded the 2014 Caroline P. Ireland Research Fellowship for up to $1,000.
This scholarship was created by the generosity of Mrs. Caroline Ireland herself to allow graduate students the opportunity to travel out-of-state to conduct research or to access resources not available to them within thestate of Alabama.
The purpose of travel can range anywhere from accessing library materials to learning new research techniques and travel must take place within a year of selection. The selection of the recipient is awarded on a competitive basis and reviewed by a faculty selection committee. Ahmed will specifically utilize this award to access out-of-state facilities to learn more about non-destructive evaluation (NDE) technique not available to him at UAB. Congratulations to Ahmed on this honor!
