UAB University Professor Henry Panion III, Ph.D., will be one of two keynote speakers for the 2012 College Music Society Summit, Jan. 20-21 at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) convention in Anaheim, Calif.
The 2012 Summit’s focus is “Untapped Collaborations: Synergies between the Music Products Industry and the Education of the Next Generation of Musicians.” More than 90,000 people are expected to attend the convention.

A new work by UAB Music Assistant Professor William Price, D.M.A., will have its world premiere Jan. 22, 2012, by the Louisiana Sinfonietta, a professional string orchestra based in Baton Rouge, La.
The newly commissioned work, “Imprint,” will be performed at 2 p.m. in the Louisiana State University Recital Hall. Price also will give a lecture on his music to the LSU Composers Forum Jan. 23.
In 2008, Price was named the Music Teachers National Association Composer of the Year. He teaches courses in music theory, music technology and aural skills in the UAB Department of Musc and serves as coordinator of composition for the Alabama Music Teachers Association. |

Brian Kittredge has been asked to judge state and regional festivals for the Hunstville District 4 All State Festival, the Birmingham District 3 All-State Festival, the Mississippi All-State Festival in the Spring of 2012.
Brian Kittredge's presentation on“The Motets of Reinhard Schwarz-Schlling: Hidden Gems of German Choral Literature” was selected for the international IUGTE "Performing Arts Between Tradition and Contemporaneity" Confernece at Retzhof Castle in Leitring bei Leibnitz, Austria. on August 25 - 29, 2011. |
