The UAB Concert Choir, Opera and Chamber Singers, from the College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Music, will perform at 7 p.m. at the church, which is located near the campus, at 1016 19th St. South. The program will include a variety of choral repertoire, focusing largely on the music of English and American composers, says conductor Brian Kittredge, DMA, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities. Kristine Hurst-Wajszczuk, DMA, directs UAB Opera.
Featured on the program will be works by Britten, Bennett, Persichetti, Shaw/Parker, Burchard, Childs, Gibbs and more. Also on the program will be a sneak preview of UAB Opera’s upcoming fully staged production of Gian Carlo Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” The opera is set for 7:30 p.m. each night Nov. 17-18 in UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center.
