Eric Essix brings “Holiday Soul” to UAB’s Alys Stephens Center on Dec. 10

This harmonious holiday celebration, fun for all ages, includes a hand-picked selection of soulful songs along with traditional favorites.

This harmonious holiday celebration is always in demand. It features UAB artist-in-residence Essix, along with Antonio Allen, Melvin Miller, Kelvin Wooten, Kim Scott, Belinda Peoples and Tamara Bodie. They’ll be joined by Leonard Julien III, Karmessa Padgett, Sean Ray, West Byrd, Adrian Lowe and PJ Spraggins. Following the success of the first “Holiday Soul” performance, Essix and friends will perform a hand-picked collection of soulful songs along with holiday favorites.

The show is set for 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, in the Center’s Jemison Concert Hall. This performance is made possible by the Gail and Jeffrey Bayer Family Donor Advised Fund.

UAB faculty may purchase $25 tickets; a limited number of $25 tickets are available for most performances. UAB students may purchase $10 tickets. UAB student tickets must be purchased with valid student ID at the Alys Stephens Center Box Office. Limit one ticket per student, and a limited number of tickets are available for each show. Faculty and staff may receive a 20 percent discount on single tickets.

Essix and friends also will perform a free school show for elementary and middle school students from throughout the Birmingham area through the ArtPlay Meet the Artist program. “Holiday Soul” will have students dancing in their seats.

Essix will perform in the UAB Hospital North Pavilion at noon Tuesday, Dec. 5, for UAB’s Arts in Medicine Institute.
