Grant to study HIV prevention in adolescent black girls
By Jennifer LollarUAB School of Nursing assistant professor Gwen Childs, Ph.D., has been awarded a $277,992 K01 grant from the NIH-NINR to conduct a three year study entitled “Development of an HIV Reduction Intervention Protocol for Adolescent African American Girls.” The goal of this study is to develop new and refine existing intervention strategies to educate and empower young women to make healthy choices to prevent HIV infection.
