In an effort to reduce transmission of HIV and sexually transmitted diseases, a Know Your Status event is being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, in the Hill University Center Great Hall. Free, comprehensive HIV/STD testing is being offered to students and incentives will be given to each person tested. Referral and treatment services will be provided for any student who tests positive.
There will be a pre-event educational forum at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, in the Hill University Center Alumni Auditorium.
All students and local community members are invited to attend this free event. The Xi Mu Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., is hosting Know Your Status, along with the UAB Division of Infectious Diseases, the 1917 Clinic, the Jefferson County Department of Health, and the Aletheia House.
