UAB, Huffington Post and NASCAR represented at conference

Alabama Launchpad event will focus on activities driving new economic development in Alabama.

alamaba_launchpad_eventThe second annual Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conference, hosted by Alabama Launchpad, a program of the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama Foundation, will highlight activities being used in Alabama to drive new economic development and examine strategies for the next step forward.

The event is set for 8 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, in the Wynfrey Hotel, 1000 Riverchase Galleria. Speakers include Peter Goodman, executive business editor of The Huffington Post, and Dean Sicking, professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, who is known for developing the SAFER Barrier that is used by NASCAR and the Indy Racing League on the walls of high-speed racetracks. Panelists include Joel Dobbs, Executive in Residence, UAB Collat School of Business; Dennis Leonard, business development consultant at UAB; and David Winwood, CEO of the UAB Research Foundation.
