SOEng bannerUAB’s School of Engineering will recognize the 2015 graduating class of engineers at the annual Order of the Engineer Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, April 23.

Students receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering will be inducted into the Order of the Engineer, during which they will formally accept the Obligation of an Engineer and receive a stainless steel ring to be worn on the fifth finger of the working hand as a symbol.

The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the UAB Alumni House with a reception for the graduates and their families immediately following.

The Order of the Engineer was initiated in the United States in 1970 to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession, to bridge the gap between training and experience, and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer.
