urgent care clinicUAB Medicine will host enrollment fairs for citizens who do not have health insurance coverage but may be eligible for insurance under the Health Insurance Marketplace.

The health fairs will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, and Saturday, Jan. 23, in Internal Medicine 1 on the second floor of The Kirklin Clinic.

“Our goal is to offer free assistance to help those who need insurance or are considering insurance in the Health Insurance Marketplace,” said Lauren Leach, director of Strategy and Business Development at the UAB Health System. “We are offering this assistance so our Birmingham-area citizens can better understand their options. We will have certified application counselors on-site to answer questions and even help attendees enroll in the exchange.”

Health Fair attendees are asked to bring the following items and information so counselors can properly assist:

  • Identification
  • Social Security numbers (or document numbers for legal immigrants)
  • Employer and income information — including pay stubs or W-2 forms and wage and tax statements — for every member of the household who needs coverage

Parking will be available in The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital parking deck free of charge. The deck is located on Sixth Avenue South between 22nd Street and Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard.
