UAB Cancer Center’s Fiesta Ball helps fund young cancer researchers

UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Fiesta Ball will support the work of young cancer research scientists and patient and family services.

fiesta ball 2016 2The Young Supporters Board of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center presents Fiesta Ball 2016, an evening with live music, Mexican food and drinks, as well as a silent auction, on Cinco de Mayo, Thursday, May 5, 6-10 p.m. at Iron City, 513 22nd St. South.

The annual fun-filled event will benefit young cancer researchers at UAB to jump-start their research, with the goal of leveraging their research findings to compete for additional federal grants. The silent auction portion of the evening will benefit UAB cancer patient and family services.

“Young investigators hold the key to the future of cancer care,” said Edward Partridge, M.D., director of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. “They will make the next generation of discoveries — discoveries that will lead to a cure for cancer. It is critical that we provide these bright minds with the resources to begin their research and generate data that can be used to apply for larger grants and continuous funding.”

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $35 at uab.edu/fiestaball or $40 at the door. Self-parking is available on the street near Iron City.
