In this annual celebration of the season, local high school choirs join UAB choirs for a festive performance of traditional holiday favorites and standard choral classics.
Panion will lead gospel artist Donald Lawrence, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Vox Fortura and the combined Miles College and UAB Gospel choirs in this concert, which will be recorded for nationwide broadcast by PBS.
Described as “the Spanish pianist of his generation,” Mendez will perform works by Chopin, then dedicate the second half to music by Spanish composers Soler, Granados and Albeniz.
The Department of Music presents recitals and concerts each fall and spring semester — and many of the performances are free and open to the public.
“Korean Tapestry: Korean Art Songs by Leading Korean Women Composers” features Won Cho, DMA, his wife, internationally acclaimed soprano Kyoung Cho, DMA, and pianist Eun-Hee Park, DMA.
