Paul Goepfert, M.D., is the director of the Alabama Vaccine Research Clinic. His laboratory concentrates on understanding the immune correlates of protection against HIV disease progression with a focus on cell medicated immune responses. In 2020, Goepfert was a high-ranking member on the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine research trial in North America.
